Questions parents ask

Everything you need to know before your child writes to Santa.
How does it work?

Your child writes to Santa on paper. You take a photo of the letter and send it. A few moments later Santa’s reply is ready: you read it first, then reveal it, print it or save it.

All you share is your child’s first name and age. There’s no account and no password.

Is it really free?

Yes. Writing to Santa and getting his reply is free, and so is printing, saving and sharing it. A real letter from Santa, posted to your home, is coming soon as an optional extra.

What does my child need?

Any paper and something to write or draw with. A letter, a question, a joke or a drawing all work. One page per letter.

My child can’t write yet. Can they still take part?

Yes. They can draw a picture, and you can write their words underneath, just as they say them. Santa will reply to the drawing and to what they told you.

Who writes Santa’s reply?

MagicWritesBack uses AI behind the scenes to read the letter and prepare a reply for you to approve. Nobody at MagicWritesBack writes the replies by hand. AI can misread messy handwriting, which is why you always see what was understood and approve the reply before your child sees it.

Can I check the reply before my child sees it?

Always. You see what Santa read in the letter and his reply together. You can fix anything Santa misread, edit the reply yourself, or ask for a different version. Your child only sees the letter once you tap to show it.

What if Santa can’t read the handwriting?

If the page is hard to read, we’ll ask you to type what it says before Santa replies. Brighter light and a flat page help a lot.

What if my child asks whether Santa is real?

You choose before your child writes: keep the magic (Santa answers in character, warmly), answer gently (Santa talks about the spirit of Santa and suggests talking with you), or let me handle it (Santa won’t answer, and we’ll let you know).

Can Santa’s letter arrive in the morning?

Yes. When you approve the reply, you can choose to deliver it in the morning, so your child wakes up to Santa’s letter.

What will Santa never do?
  • Promise or hint at a particular present.
  • Ask for an address, school, phone number, photos or any personal details.
  • Ask your child to keep a secret, or say he is watching them.
  • Suggest meeting, visiting or contacting him anywhere else.
  • Make up things about your child that weren’t in the letter.
What if the letter mentions something worrying?

Sometimes a child writes about something that needs a grown-up’s attention. If that happens, Santa won’t reply. We’ll show you privately what the letter said, with places you can turn to for help.

Can my child write in another language?

Santa can read letters in other languages, and he’ll reply in English.

What do you keep about my child?

Very little. We only ask for your child’s first name and age. They’re saved on your phone, not in an account, and sent only to write Santa’s reply. There are no child accounts and no chat. We don’t keep the photo of the letter, and your child’s letters are never used for advertising.
